The SEO market is still going strong, as illustrated by the recent sale of seo.co.uk. The San Francisco Chronicle reports on the speculation that the sale price was £3.75 Million, however new owners Hitesh Patel and Vadym Gurevych of Bullseye Media LTD have denied this figure.

“I have literally been inundated by calls over the last 3 weeks by domain investors and venture capitalists who have been inquiring on the new sale price. I advised them that we did not pay the rumored price tag of £3.75 million and that we are at this point carefully implementing our plans for the domain. We have spent the last few years ensuring we are leaders in our field and our recent purchase will ensure we continue to grow our brand, client base and provide best of breed SEO and Internet marketing services, ” said Patel.

Whatever the real figure, you can bet it did not come cheap.

I wonder what something like Bundaberg SEO would be worth?.. ;-)

Topseos Release Best SEO Companies List For January 2012

Well the New Year is only three days old, but that hasn’t stopped topseos.com.au from releasing its 30 Best SEO Companies in Australia List for January 2012.

Surprisingly, some very good SEO companies are not on the list; I wonder why?

Gabriel Machuret sums it up nicely in his post here: The Stupidity Behind TopSEOs – Best SEO companies in Australia.

To summarize, Gabriel indicates that the entire topseos.com.au is a scam and on the content of his post and the links in his post, the rankings do seem less then transparent. The registration section of topseos.com.au, does seem to imply special premium listing if you are willing to part with $1,000 each month.

Enjoy the benefits of being included in the premier inclusion package at topseos.com. Premier inclusion means being considered for rankings in the categories where you provide service and being highlighted as one of the top agencies in your area of practice. Select which categories you’re interested in from the selection box under “Categories You Service” and add them to the “Categories You Would Like To Be Ranked For”. Each category for consideration costs a flat rate of $1000 a month to focus on the categories that matter most to you.

$1,000 per month is certainly a nice little earner that’s for sure, so I guess they want to get in early and generate some cash at the beginning of the year…. ;-)

Mobile Friendly SEO

After years of promising to deliver, Mobile Friendly SEO really started to take hold in 2011. At the start of 2012, it is important to take action to ensure that when you target local search in your SEO campaign that you ensure yourt website is optimized for mobile devices.

As of 2011, over 50% of all local searches are done on a mobile device and this is expected to continue to rise.

You still need to have a grasp of the basics of Local SEO, including topics like:

  • Local SEO
  • Small Business Owners Local SEO
  • How To Add Business To Google Maps

Mobile Friendly SEO - Use Local Keywords

The first step in any SEO campaign is to perform keyword research; you are trying to find out how people are searching for the products or services that you provide. It is important to get this step right, as everything else flows from it.

You should begin your keyword research on a national level and then localize your research later by adding the city or town, state, and neighborhood in front of the chosen keyword. For example, for a local car yard, it makes more sense to optimize for “Anytown NY car yard” than it does to target the broader keyword term“car yard”.

Mobile Friendly SEO – Develop Local Search Profiles

Even if your business operates on a larger geographical area then just the local market, you should still submit your information to Google, Yahoo!, and Bing local directories, as it helps improve search engine results page visibility, as well as increasing your online real estate and building another legitimate inbound link to your website.

Mobile Friendly SEO – Include Contact Information

Make sure to include all contact information including, physical address, mailing address, and a phone number, preferably on every page of the site. These details should be crawlable text that the search engine spiders can “read”. You can easily do this by simply adding this information to the footer of your website.

Mobile Friendly SEO – Optimize Social Profiles

If you have a Social Media business profile, make sure you optimize your pages the same as you would your website, for local keywords.

Optimize the title of the page using a local keyword and include local terms in the bio sections as well as in post content whenever it makes sense to do so. Also make sure to include your contact details and make sure they match the ones on your website.

Mobile Friendly SEO – Making Your Website Works

There is no point in doing all of the above if your website is not optimized for local search from mobile devices. If your site can’t be viewed on a mobile device, you can’t pretty much guarantee that you won’t get any visitors to your site and will miss out on business; you will simply be giving your competitors an advantage and your ‘customers’ will do business with them instead.
